Loyola, Jamshedpur win at Kolkata
WINNER: Loyola School Jamshedpur : Anubhav Kumar Singh and Praneet Shekhar
RUNNER UP: Rajendra Vidyalaya Jamshedpur : Shadan Kalam and Adnan Azmat

Over 1100 students from various schools in Kolkata were a part of this years’ edition of TCS IT Wiz. The city also witnessed school teams travelling all the way from Jamshedpur, Durgapur, Ranchi and other areas around Kolkata. The theme of this years’ quiz has been DEFAULT IS DIGITAL.

The quiz platform looked into the technological trends that are poised to have huge traction across the globe. Students who are a part of this quiz would benefit from understanding these technologies as they walk into their future. The following top six teams from the written preliminary round qualified for the regional finals:

FINALISTS :
St. James, Kolkata : Shourya Sarkar and Spandan Sengupta
DAV Model School, Durgapur : Siddharth Bankupalle and Shivam Chaturvedi
Loyola School, Jamshedpur : Anubhav Kumar Singh and Praneet Shekhar
Rajendra Vidyalaya, Jamshedpur : Shadan Kalam and Adnan Azmat
DPS Ruby Park, Kolkata : Keshav Kejriwal and Sumanta Majumdar
Kalyani Public School, Barasat : Sankalpa Das and Neel Chakraborty

The initial rounds of the quiz saw Loyola in the lead, but just one mistake and the tables tilted with Rajendra Vidyalaya inching ahead. Loyola however clawed their way back and took some brave chances.

After five gruelling rounds of quizzing in a tough battle, the duo of Anubhav Kumar Singh and Praneet Shekhar, from Loyola, won a memorable victory, defeating the National champions of TCS IT Wiz 2015 - Rajendra Vidyalaya.

The 2015 champions Shadan Kalam and Adnan Azmat, had to settle for the runner up title, but did put up a great performance this year as well. The team from DPS did well in bursts but could not hold the momentum across the quiz.

The regional champions walked away with an IPad air each while the runners-up were rewarded an iPad mini each along with a specially designed trophy and medals. The winning team along with a teacher/parent will be flown to Mumbai to contest in the National Finals.

The quiz hosted by noted quizmaster Pickbrain also featured interesting social media based contests that kept the audience busy with Kolkata clocking close to 5500 tweets during the contest.

The prizes were distributed by the guest of Honour Ms. Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay, Director, Indian Statistical Institute along with Suresh G. Menon, the Vice President and General Manager – Eastern Region of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
