DAV impress at Mumbai

WINNER: DAV Public School - Sanyam Satia and Mihir Belgaonkar

RUNNER UP: Thakur Public School - Shivam Kumar and Sanat Mishra

A record participation of over 600 teams, on a Sunday morning, reflected the growing interest for IT in this region. Kids reading books before a quiz is a common sight, but at an upwardly mobile city like Mumbai the books had given way to tabs, truly an impressive sight as kids revised their questions on modern gadgets, setting the stage for the quiz.

The finalists at Mumbai after a tough prelim were:

Thakur Public School - Shivam Kumar and Sanat Mishra
Gopi Birla School - Unnati Jhunjhunwala and Vrunda Kapadia
DAV Public School - Sanyam Satia and Mihir Belgaonkar
Rajhans Vidyalaya - Yashraj Gumukhi and Krishnav Roy
Appejay School - Aniket Bomble and Pulkit Agarwal
JH Ambani- Karthik Puri and Yash Dorle

The final lineup saw new schools qualifying this year with kids from class 9 and 10 also making it to the final. Quizmaster Pickbrain commenting "This is what impresses me about Mumbai, there is always a young brigade to challenge the 11th and 12th standard teams". The final was a fast paced battle that was tense and keenly fought from the word go. Four teams Thakur Public, Gopi Birla, DAV and Rajhans, the defending champs, getting off to quick starts.

As the quiz moved from one round to another, Thakur Public the youngest team on stage (from class 9) cracked a few good ones while DAV also came up with some good answers. It was in the buzzer rounds that DAV started pulling ahead with quick strikes and logical deductions that impressed both the quizmaster and the audience alike.

The other teams did try to catch up but were not fast enough on the buzzer, the defending champs looking a little rusty though a couple of good answers did bring back memories of their victory a year ago. Team DAV quickly consolidated and left no room for anyone else registering an impressive win followed by the young Thakur Public who sure look good for the years ahead.
